My dog is only 2 years old and I notice his getting white hair around his mouth.

It's just part of a dog getting older. Just like humans, some dogs start to develop gray earlier and some never do. 2 is young, but it doesn't mean anything is wrong with the dog or that it is overly stressed. As the hair folicle ages, the pigment producing cells age as well and some stop producing pigment all together. It isn't usually related to stress or general health and isn't anything to worry about.

mine has that too. she is a black labrador and she is only 4 years old and about 2 years ago she started getting white hair around her mouth like a beard. i don't think its anything to worry about just the sign of them getting older.

I have a chihuahua and he is all black. He's an old dog now and has gotten a lot of white hair around his face. It's just part of gettin old.

Many older dogs will get white hair on parts of their face, but it also can happen in young dogs as well. Kind of like premature graying. My dog (small mixed breed) had white on his muzzle when I adopted him at 2.5 years old.
