How to keep my white hair from yellowing?

My hair is going white, with just a little black still in it. I love it! It's healthy and thick and straight but it looked just a little yellowish this morning. I want to keep it sparkling white without bleaching out the dark ones. Anyone have any good suggestions to keep my white hairs brilliantly white without messing up my dark hairs? (P.S. I already use Pantene for silver hair.)

Go to a beauty supply store and get a professional shampoo - I like Redken color extend in the big red bottle. My hair now is light blonde (dyed) with my own white hairs - the shampoo prevents it from yellowing. My natural color was auburn, so the yellow wants to come out badly. The shampoo works for me. Also, take a look at your water - if you have well water or really hard water, that could cause it as well. I also like L'Oreal professional (for salons) for blonde hair - it also works to keep the yellow out.

Not sure this applies since my hair is white, not any shade of blonde. I think Aprille B's answer is more on point although so far haven't found any of the products she mentions--but it at least deals with white hair (which is far different from blonde hair). Report It

Hi..Matrix makes a shampoo called So Silver that works great! Make sure u buy it from a reputable saon..also..I suggest using a clarifying shampoo like Nexxus Kelate once a week to clarify and take out any mineral deposits and pollutants such as nicotine. This can also be had from a salon that deals with Nexxus Phyto Organics Products..U only need use a small amount as salo products tend to be very concentrated..good luck and hope this works for u. Will keep your hair healthy and shiny and show off that white/silver without touching or changing the pepper!
