The vet could be right. Changes in seasons do wierd things to peoples and animals skin, hair and internal workings too. It also could be stress. Give it a while for the season to really set in and if this is still occuring, take your hunny bunny back to the vet. I'm just glad you took it to the vet to start with. A caring pet owner. Good for you!

It might just be over stressed... Whats its living conditions like?

it's white because it's changing into it's winter coat. don't worry it's totally normal!

Stop dying your bunny's hair

Is it coming off in chunks (leaving bald spots) or just all over? My bunny is shedding right now too... he gets little lighter-colored tufts that come out easily when I pet him or gently tug on them...and if I don't brush/pet/tug the tufts, there does tend to be quite a lot of them after a day or two... but it doesn't leave bald patches or anything. I'm not sure why the loose hair appears lighter, but it does. If it's not coming out in big patches or anything, I'd bet it's just shedding.

Is there white chunks on the ends of the fur? If this is the case, then it has mites and you should put witch hazel (a clear liquid) or mineral oil on the spot where the fur is falling out.

It possibly could be mites.or if he/she is housed with another rabbit or stressed he/she might be doing whats called "barbering" I would bring him in to be seen by his/her vet as soon as you can but dont be afraid it sounds to me that he will be fine probably with an antibiotic. good luck I hope only the best for you and your fuzzy:)

It certainly can be a change in season. If there are large bald spots and he is scratching and biting himself excessively, it can be mites. He will need 3 rounds of Ivermectin for mites.

Definitely do not use witch hazel, it's completely inaffective and will no kill mites and their newly hatched eggs.

Are you referring to the hair that replaces that black hair comes in white or the actual hair that falls off turns white?

If the hair that replaces it is grey/white. Then it might just be that you have a Champagne D' Argent rabbit. The breed of Champagne D' Argent rabbits start out looking all black when they are young. As they get older and molt out their baby fur they turn to a greyish color.

If your rabbit has big white flaky chunks at the bottom of the hairs that come out then your rabbit may have fur mange and needs to be treated for that.

If the actual hairs that are falling out are turning white, I'm not sure what might be causing that. I've never seen that happen before.
