Dying my hair white?

I hate dark dark black hair but I'm growing it long, and want to dye it white. How should I proceed, and where do they sell white hair dye. And do you think long white hair look retarded??

I hate to rain on your parade, but you can't dye your hair white. You can bleach it out to platinum blonde, which is almost white, but just has a slight tinge of yellow to it... but you will never get it WHITE. And yes, it will probably not look good. People have the natural hair color that they do because it looks good with their skin tone, and people who naturally go white or grey as they age also go through a skin tone change with aging as well, so it still looks natural. Chances are it'll make you look very washed out and sickly.

But, be warned if you bleach it out that light... it's a long process starting from black hair to go that light, like you're going to have to reapply probably a few times, and after all that bleaching, you'll have extremely dry hair at the very least, and probably chemical burns on your scalp at the worst, and your hair still may not get light enough.

I wouldn't even attempt it at all, to be honest with you... however if you are still wanting to, I'd at least stop in at a salon first, talk to a stylist, tell them what you want to do, and they can better tell you if it's a possibility or not.

if you have black hair you need to go to the salon to get it white. And it will take a couple of sessions to get it completely white. I think you'd be better off just growing it out and cut off the black for a more natural look before you color your hair anymore.

It is nearly impossible to color it white, especially with black hair. It has to lift more than 10 levels to get from black to blonde, and requires a TON of bleach. Your hair will be really dry and stringy.

Please don't try this yourself! Go to a professional to get it as light as possible.

If you can't afford a salon, go to a school. It's cheaper and supervised by professionals!

And yes, I think it would look kewl. How bout just a white streak in the middle?

if you are young like a teenager, depending on how you look and dress, yes it will actually look cool. I have seen it in some pictures and I loved how it looked! If you are older like in your 20's or something then I wouldn't recommend it, but hey, hair grows back. So do whatever you want. You would have to bleach your hair though, and it will be fried.
